How NOT to Sell your Atlanta Home ? Home ... - Atlanta Home Staging

Helping sellers prepare their home for the market throughout metro-Atlanta for the past 7 years, I?ve had the opportunity to work with many sellers. And no, I?m not an agent. I?m a home staging professional based in Marietta and service many locations in and around Atlanta. Having had this experience, I thought it would be beneficial to review a list of ?how not to sell your Atlanta home.?

  • Do nothing ? When I say nothing, I mean nothing. Sure, it?s easy, but I don?t suggest trying it out. Buyers are searching for move-in ready homes.
  • Price it too high ? Buyers are looking for deals. They are NOT going to be looking for over-priced homes.
  • Use poor quality photos for the MLS listing ? According to Realtor.com, 90%+ of the buyers use the Internet to search for their next home. If your home or listing has poor quality photos, it?s never going to make the potential buyers short list of homes to see.

The biggest challenge for home sellers is knowing where to begin in getting their home ready. Here are some tips:

  • Tackle the repairs ? unless you intend to sell your home to an investor, a buyer is not going to want to own fixing all the problems. Typically, the repairs are minor such as replacing a screen, fixing a drip, etc.
  • Reduce and remove ? One of the key points in selling is to know that you?re selling the ?real estate? the home has to offer. If the rooms are filled with furniture, it will make the room appear smaller.
  • Paint -I?m sure we?ve all heard this before. However, painting a room, or rooms, is perhaps one of the easiest and most cost-effective things a seller can do.

Whether your home is going to be empty when selling (meaning it?s a vacant listing) or occupied (meaning you, the seller, are living in the home while it?s on the market), our Atlanta home staging services can help you.
